sanitation

Water-borne illnesses are one of the gravest dangers in Africa. Proper human waste sanitation and handwashing can dramatically reduce deadly disease. If neglected, it can even eradicate the many benefits of the nutrition program altogether.

In 2011, a gift was provided to drill a water hole onsite at COMIDO. It has provided much needed clean water to the children and staff.

In 2012 the installation of flush-toilets replaced pit-latrines and provided handwashing sinks available at all bathroom areas. A large collection tank was installed to store water from the water hole aiding in the flush toilets' effectiveness.

In 2013, a handwashing station was installed near the kitchen where the children receive their meals. These efforts further the sanitation progress and allow for education on how to avoid the spread of common disease.
